A WOMAN in her 60s has died following the crash on the A4130 at Hadden Hill between Wallingford and Didcot this morning.

The road was shut both ways following the collision between the woman's red Suzuki Baleno and a black Renault Traffic at 7.14am. It opened early this afternoon.

A man in his 20s who was driving the Renault was also injured.

The woman has not been named but she was from Wallingford and was driving towards Didcot.

An ambulance spokesman said: “We were called to the A4130 to a collision between two vehicles at 7.12am. Two ambulance crews were sent to the scene and an ambulance officer.

“There were two patients, a man in his 20s was taken to the JR with minor injuries and a lady in her 60s sadly passed away at the scene.”

Pc Sandra Terry said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the collision or seen either of the vehicle involved prior to the incident.

“The road was closed while an investigation into the collision took place, which had an impact on commuters, but this has since reopened.”

Two young men were killed in May 2012 on the same stretch of road. Jack Varney, 19, and Rhys Roberts, 21, both from Didcot, died when the car they were in crashed into a wall on the A4130 at Hadden Hill.

Last year new safety markings were put in place on the road.

Anyone with information should contact Sgt Jack Hawkins at the roads police team on the Thames Valley number 101.
