A teenager who was stabbed in Oxford has now died.

The 17-year-old was stabbed repeatedly on Thursday night and has died in hospital this morning, according to Thames Valley Police.

Police issued a statement this afternoon saying the victim is believed to be Connor Tremble, from Fairacres Road, Oxford, who was attacked in his home at about 6.45pm on Thursday.

His life support machine was switched off before he died at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

A 20-year-old man, who was arrested yesterday in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, is under arrest on suspicion of murder.

He is in custody at a police station in the Thames Valley.

And a 21-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested today on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the incident and is in police custody.

Det Ch Insp Mark Glover, of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime unit, said: “Sadly the victim has now passed away in hospital.

“Thames Valley Police has launched a murder investigation and I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact police.

“I would like to reassure members of the community that a team of detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened and we now have two people in custody in connection with the incident.

”This is not believed to be a random attack.

"However, we continue to have an open mind and enquiries are ongoing to attempt to establish the motive.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
