FIREFIGHTERS are currently battling a blaze at the Southwell building in Osney Mead.
Six fire crews are at the Oxford University research facility.
The building has been evacuated of about 40 staff and students.
A fire service spokesman said at this early stage it appeared the fire had started in a machine in the building.
No one had been hurt.
