A man armed with a knife attempted to rob the Post Office in Headington, Oxford, yesterday lunchtime.

The man entered the premises and demanded money but staff did not hand any over and he left.

A Post Office spokeswoman said: “Post Office Ltd can confirm an attempted robbery took place at Headington Post Office.

A description would be good, as well as which way he went when leaving the PO.

On a more general note, given all the bank jobs, hold ups at bookies and POs in Headington over the past few years, it seems the CCTV in the area is either very poor or non-existent.

What did this person think they were going to get waving a knife about in a post office - he would have had more chance of stealing some oap's pension money than getting any out people behind glass windows!

He must of headed off in a certain direction given the locality of the post office... either towards the coop or up towards the old ripples showroom, or across the road into bury knowle. someone must have had a good look at him as people are always around that area all the time!!
