Job club marks fifth birthday with work fair
10:10pm Wednesday 26th February 2014 in News
A JOB club launched at the height of the recession is to celebrate its fifth anniversary.
Since it was launched, Banbury Job Club has helped 3,300 find a job or training to get them back to work.
The event, to take place between 10.30am and 3pm, will see more than 20 employers, career advisers and training organisations give advice to job-seekers.
Norman Bolster, the council’s lead member for economy and estates, said: “We have helped 3,300 people from the town on the path to employment by bringing together job-seekers and employers, assisting in writing the perfect CV and offering helpful interview techniques.
“The success of the Banbury Job Club has led to the creation of additional job clubs in the district and was the inspiration for the national Job Club Network, as backed by central Government.
“We felt the best way to commemorate its fifth anniversary was to host a job fair to help even more people find their dream role.”
