POP star-turned cheese-maker Alex James and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver have revealed the line-up for their third annual Big Feastival – describing it as “one hell of a party”.

Dance music DJ Fatboy Slim and jazz favourite Jamie Cullum will headline the food and music festival, which takes place on former Blur bassist Mr James’ farm at Kingham, near Chipping Norton, in the summer.

Mr James, who has developed his own range of cheeses – including Blue Monday, named after the New Order hit – while playing occasional shows with Blur, said: “The Big Feastival gets bigger and better every year.

“I’m absolutely delighted with 2014’s line up.

“Basement Jaxx were a big hit last year and we wanted to keep Saturday night quite dancey so I’m very pleased to welcome my old pal Fatboy Slim to the farm.

“He’s going to bring the house down.

“Jamie Cullum will be here too, along with Feastival favourites Norman Jay and The Cuban Brothers. I can’t wait. It’s going to be one hell of a party.”

He added: “Jamie and I are cooking up few surprises as well, so watch this space.”

Mr Oliver agreed. Speaking exclusively to the Oxford Mail, he said: “Put the date in your diary, as this year’s Big Feastival has the best line-up to date.

“Who doesn’t fancy a boogie to Fatboy Slim while eating some delicious street food?”

Tickets for the event, which runs from August 29-31, have gone on sale today.

Music will also come from Cowley-based folk-pop band Stornoway, American R&B star Kelis, three-piece Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti, reggae act The Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra, Notting Hill Carnival stalwart Norman Jay, The Cuban Brothers, Duke and Molotov Jukebox.

There will also be special guest appearances from Abba and Fleetwood Mac tribute acts Bjorn Again and Fleetwood Bac.

The culinary line-up will feature demonstrations by TV chefs Gennaro Contaldo, one of the stars of BBC TV’s The Two Greedy Italians, and Le Gavroche sous chef – and BBC MasterChef star – Monica Galetti.

The festival hosts will also be showing off their skills, along with award-winning chefs Ashley Palmer-Watts, Nathan Outlaw and Valentine Warner plus barbecue expert Christian Stevenson – aka DJ BBQ.

For the first time, the festival also features a full programme on the Friday.

Mr James first hosted a food and music festival on his Cotswold farm in 2011.

Organisers say the two festivals since then have proved a great success, attracting 20,000 people each year and supporting local businesses and groups.

Designed as a family festival, there will also be activities for children, with a dedicated children’s area set up by the presenter of BBC TV’s Countryfile, Adam Henson.
