Oxford City Council has announced a programme of arts exhibitions, book events and concerts to celebrate 25 years of the Oxford-Grenoble twinning.

The events will take place from Saturday, April 26 to Saturday, May 3.

The week will be launched by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Dee Sinclair, at 11am on April 26 at the Town Hall.

Chairwoman Mel Houldershaw said the president of Alliance Grenoble-Oxford, Marie-Christine Simiand, would be at the heart of the events taking place.

“Around 80 performers and Grenoble friends are coming over for the celebrations, led by the dynamic Marie-Christine Simiand, who last year was awarded an MBE for all she has done for us,” she said.

“She and Team Grenoble entertained us in style on the 20th twinning anniversary, so now it is Team Oxford’s turn."

Events include an exhibition called Alps and Spires at the Town Hall to feature artists from both cities.

The Grenoble guests will be seen at civic and cultural events.
