The completion of Osney Lock will be delayed for a further two or three weeks, the Environment Agency says.
The lock will remain closed to boats as the smaller weir is replaced, work which involves building a temporary footbridge over the river.
Work was initially due to be completed by Christmas, but has been hampered by high water levels.
