A MAN believed to be linked to two robberies in Banbury was armed with a gun, according to victims.

In the first incident, the man attempted to take money from the till and from a customer in the Esso petrol station, Ermont Way, on Monday at about 10.30pm. He left the store after the staff member and customer refused to hand anything over.

The man is described as white, about 5ft 10in, of medium build and in his 20s. He was wearing a white Kangol hooded top, cream trousers and black shoes, gloves and scarf.

The staff member told police he was holding a black handgun and carrying small black plastic bags.

The second robbery happened at the Co-op store in Ferriston on Tuesday at about 8.45am.

A man again demanded money from the till. A staff member said he was holding a black gun and they handed over money before the suspect left.

The man, described here as in his 30s, is said to be white, about 5ft 8in and skinny. He was wearing a black hooded top and jeans.

Police are linking the two incidents and are appealing for witnesses.

No arrests had been made at the time of going to press.
