VISITORS to Modern Art Oxford have been tucking in with gusto to an interactive sculpture on display at Modern Art Oxford.

Titled Pyramid Soul City, the piece by South African artist Roelof Louw, encourages visitors to each take an orange from its pyramid structure.

Gallery assistant Joe Wilson said people had been nervous to take them at first but he now estimates more than 2,500 of the original 6,000 have gone.

He said: “It has put a smile on a lot of faces since we first put it out there.

“I think people like being able to take home pieces of art and consume them.

“I have taken a couple myself.”

The display, part of a lead-up to Modern Art Oxford’s 50th anniversary in 2016, is on show until April 6.
