GREEN campaigners cycled down Oxford’s Botley Road on Friday morning to demonstrate the benefits of travelling on two wheels.

Seven members of Low Carbon West Oxford wore yellow hi-visibility jackets bearing the words “greener”, “quicker”, “happier”, “cheaper”, “healthier”, “smarter” and “sexier”.

It was part of the global Climate Week campaign and the group aimed to encourage more people to swap their car for a bicycle.

The group’s co-founder Lois Muddiman, of Harley Road, Oxford, said: “We got a lot of attention and were getting beeps from supportive motorists. There was also a lot of interest from other cyclists and pedestrians.

“The weather is changing. The rain is finally behind us and now is a great time for people to start travelling by bike rather than car.”
