The main post office in Witney closed down yesterday.

The branch, in Market Square, has now been moved to the WHSmith store in the Woolgate Shopping Centre.

The closure is part of the Post Office’s plan to stem £40m-a-year losses across the country. The new branch will be open for an extra nine-and-a-half hours a week, including Saturday afternoons and from 10am to 2pm on Sundays.

The move comes despite pressure from customers over queues and disability access.
