YOU would have to be bananas not to listen. Staff and patients at Oxford’s Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre yesterday got advice on ways to quit smoking and get healthy.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust combined its latest so-called Healthy Hospital event with national No Smoking Day to offer tips on various ways to stay healthy.

The trust has run previous Healthy Hospital events at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and at the Horton Hospital in Banbury, and another will be held at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford later this year.

Staff at the centre in Headington set up displays and a range of stalls and the trust’s anti-smoking officer Fiona Singleton gave advice to all visitors, patients and staff.

The trust’s health and well-being promotion specialist, Anna Hinton, said: “This was an opportunity to come along and find out about healthy lifestyles and take up the challenge of making those first small steps towards improving health.”
