PLANS for a £6.6m civic building, hotel, office and retail units have been submitted to complete the regeneration of Bicester’s town centre.
Cherwell District Council will effectively decide whether to give itself permission to construct the five-storey development over Franklins Yard car park.
The proposed building would house Cherwell’s Bicester office, a new library, a 53-bedroom Travelodge hotel, retail or restaurant units and offices. If approved, a total of 68 car park spaces will be lost. A section for car parking would be set aside for hotel guests within the Sainsbury’s car park nearby.
It is hoped the application will be decided in May and, if approved, work is expected to start in July.
