POLICE are trying to trace the owners of a group of horses which escaped onto Oxfordshire’s roads this morning.
Two of the horses were killed in a collision with a lorry on the A34 northbound at about 2am.
Police shut the road near Weston-on-the-Green for five hours until 7am.
At the same time Thames Valley Police officers rounded up five horses running loose in Weston-on-the-Green village.
Police spokeswoman Lucy Billen said: "Officers managed to round them up and secure them in a nearby field while we continued our search for the owners."
Police said it was likely the horses were from the same field.
Traffic is still slow on the A34 northbound between Botley Interchange and Weston-on-the-Green this morning.
