The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in the county has fallen, latest official figures have revealed.
A total of 4,627 people were claiming the benefit in February, down 135 on the previous month according to the Office for National Statistics.
There are now 2,598 fewer people signing on the dole than at the same time last year and the figure remains at its lowest since October 2008.
Nationally, the number claiming Jobseeker's Allowance fell by 34,600 to 1.17 million, the 16th consecutive monthly reduction.
The total number of people unemployed including those not claiming benefits fell by 63,000 in the quarter to January to 2.33 million, a rate of 7.2 per cent.
