COUNCIL leaders and representatives from a whole host of companies and government bodies have met in Oxford to discuss flooding today.

Following the Oxfordshire flooding summit they agreed to set up a sponsorship group made up of representatives from as many of the organisations as possible.

This would lead the way in pushing for funding for the £123m Western Conveyance flood relief channel which would go around Oxford.

All of Oxfordshire’s MPs have also agreed to meet with the group in Westminster to help push the case for the scheme.

Earlier this week Rodney Rose, deputy leader of the council, said if the county didn't get the funding secured now for the Western Conveyance Channel, a proposed £123m flood relief channel from Botley to Sandford.
