Unit where teenager died may not reopen

A head of the trust which runs the learning disability unit where 18-year-old Connor Sparrowhawk died has admitted the service needs modernising.
The Short Term Assessment and Treatment Team unit at Slade House, Headington, was closed to admissions in September after Connor was found underwater in a bath in July.
The Care Quality Commission found it was failing 10 out of 10 quality standards and the unit is now empty after two resident patients left. A Southern Health spokesman said the unit may not reopen.
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust chief operating officer Sue Harriman said the trust was working to develop community and inpatient services in the area to ensure they were high quality and met patients’ needs.
