A HOSPICE is aiming to set the world record for the longest conga during its midnight walk fundraiser.

The Adderbury-based Katharine House Hospice’s eighth midnight walk will leave from Banbury Cricket Club at the stroke of midnight on Saturday, June 14, when walkers will wind their way for 10 miles around the town.

Since the event was launched, it has raised more than £600,000.

And during the challenge, the hospice will attempt to set the world record for the longest conga.

So far 50 people have signed up, but staff have set a target of 600.

Helen Mariner, the hospice’s head of fundraising, said: “Dig out the leg warmers, the tutus, wigs and hotpants — the brighter colours the better.

“Whether you walk with family, friends or in a team with colleagues from work, the 10 miles will flash by with the great camaraderie and fun atmosphere.

“The midnight walk is our biggest fundraiser of the year and this year’s carnival theme and record-breaking conga attempt will guarantee a great night out with a fantastic atmosphere.

“Whether you are walking for fun, for fitness or in memory of someone special, your support will make a huge difference to local patients and their families.”
