OXFORD'S Museum of Natural History has been shortlisted for an award to celebrate its conservation work.

The museum’s Once in a Whale project is one of five schemes in the running for the Restoration or Conservation prize in the Museums & Heritage Awards for Excellence.

In 2013, five whale skeletons suspended from the museum roof underwent extensive conservation treatment, and were reinstalled last month.

The award will be judged by a panel of museum and historical attraction experts, and the winners will be announced on May 14 at a ceremony in London.
