A surgeon at Oxford’s Churchill Hospital said nothing could have been done to prevent the death of a patient during a double transplant operation.
Simon Locke, 49, had diabetes and was blind and died during surgery to replace his kidney and pancreas on November 1.
Transplant surgeon Sanjay Sinha said: “We have not found anything we could have done differently.”
Coroner Darren Salter gave a narrative verdict, saying: “The cause of death was cardiogenic shock that resulted from cardiopulmonary disease and the strain of surgery.”
