The Bishop of Oxford has refused to say whether or not he supports gay marriage.
The Rt Rev John Pritchard was speaking after same-sex marriage became legal in the UK on Saturday.
He said: “I want to celebrate with those who are taking the opportunity to mark their love and commitment to each other as a result of the new legislation.
“However, the Church still has to think through the implications of such a significant change in understanding about marriage and this will take time.”
