MORE than £2,000 has been raised at the first fundraiser in memory of Leah Graham.

Leah, from Abingdon, died on October 31 last year, aged 17, after suffering all her life from cystic fibrosis, a disease mainly affecting the lungs and pancreas.

Leah’s mum Selina Jeacock has started a charity, Leah’s Wish, to increase awareness of cystic fibrosis and raise money for hospitals and charities that supported her daughter throughout her illness.

Martial arts and dance taster sessions, including body combat, were held at the weekend at Can Do Martial Arts in Berry Croft, Abingdon to raise funds.

Miss Jeacock said: “The weekend was amazing, absolutely brilliant. I’d say there were 100 people at least. Everybody enjoyed it and had a good time. We wanted to appeal to lots of different kinds of people.”

Miss Jeacock, 40, tried burlesque dancing — one of the events on offer.

She said: “It was great fun — I’d never done anything like that before.

“It was run by the Scarlet Vixens, and they said they might want to get more involved in the future as well.”
