MORE than 100 Minis, Morris Minors and other classic cars will parade through Oxford on Saturday morning.

The motorcade will leave Cowley Mini plant at 8.30am on its way to the annual Pride of Longbridge Rally in Birmingham.

The rally commemorates the collapse of MG Rover in 2005 and the 6,000 workers who lost their jobs, but also celebrates the history of the Longbridge group, which from 1952 to 2000 included Oxford Mini.

Convoy organiser and Mini collector Tanya Field said: “Cars will set off in groups of 10 so as not be to a nuisance to local traffic, but the convoy will still be quite a sight to see and for many people, car-making history will be flashing before their eyes as we drive past.”

Leaving the Mini plant at 8.30am, cars will take the ring road to Wolvercote Roundabout and then the A44 to Evesham.

There are currently 110 vehicles registered which will assemble at the plant from 7.30am.
