TWO Canada geese were shot yesterday after becoming tangled in fishing lines.

The geese were found injured by RSPCA officers at Ladygrove Lakes.

They are warning fishermen to be careful not to leave lines around the lakes.

RSPCA inspector Sharon Crisp, who covers South Oxfordshire, said: “They both had very bad injuries to their legs, it was quite distressing to see them in a sorry state, they can’t survive with only one leg.

“The message is for fishermen to take more care when discarding fishing line.”
