RADIO DJ Emma Stanfield has walked free from Oxford Crown Court after being unanimously cleared yesterday of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

The 40-year-old Radio Cherwell presenter and Strictly Oxford contestant, above, was accused of knowing a 15-year-old girl was under the age of consent when they had sex in May of last year.

But it took just one hour and 40 minutes for a jury to return not guilty verdicts for all four charges against her after a three-day trial at Oxford Crown Court.

After the hearing a relieved Miss Stanfield, of Chapel Street, East Oxford, said the case had a “hugely damaging” effect on her life but she had been confident she would be cleared.

She said: “It is not very nice to have your private life made public in front of a huge amount of people, not just in the court but in the media as well.”
