UNDER fives learnt about different types of cats at the Ashmolean Museum yesterday.

The “paws and claws” session saw them create cat masks and tails of their own, before exploring the museum’s exhibitions looking for cats.

The event took place between 10.30am and 12.30am.

Mark Elphinstone-Hoadley took along his son Joshua, two.

He said: “My son was probably a bit too young for the arts and crafts part, but we had great fun going round the exhibition and looking at the statues.

“It is great to get children coming to these places.

“We would definitely come back again, though maybe in a few years.”

The next family activity at the Ashmolean will take place on May 5, with “Bank Holiday family fun”.

It will include trails and craft sessions.
