CARE home volunteers will be recognised for their work at Oxford’s Town Hall today.
Awards will be presented to 20 volunteers by the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) to celebrate Oxfordshire’s Volunteers’ Day.
The OSJCT has invited 50 volunteers to the event – which will feature a speech by student Harry Jenkins, who gives his time at Isis Care and Retirement Centre in Oxford.
Among the award winners is Ian Gardiner, from Wallingford, who has volunteered at Westgate House for more than 10 years.
OSJCT Oxfordshire volunteer and activities manager Sharon Wheeler said: “People like Ian and the rest of our volunteers, who have spent thousands of hours at our homes, provide our residents with the most meaningful and priceless gift of all – their time and compassion.”
