TALENTED artists and promising painters will be pitted against each other in this year’s Oxford Young Arts Awards.

There will be more than 50 entries for this year’s awards from sixth form art students across the city.

Entries will include paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs and textiles and those taking part will be in with the chance of taking home a £400 prize.

Top entries will be featured in an exhibition at the North Wall Arts Centre in Summertown from Monday, May 5, to Saturday May 10. The winner of the Young Arts Award will receive their award from Peter Rhoades, a tutor in Fine Art at Christ Church on Wednesday, May 7.

Chairwoman Kate Lack said: “This is the fourth year we have run a Young Arts project in oxford and the first time that young people have been invited to enter a competition, and we are delighted with the response.”

The annual Awards have been organised in conjunction with the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies.
