CHILDREN helped design plans for a new playground to be built in Didcot’s Great Western Park.
Popular requests for a zip-wire were included in the plans after school pupils from Stephen Freeman Community Primary School, in Freeman Road, drew them in pictures of their ideal playground.
Developers Taylor Wimpey submitted a planning application for the park to South Oxfordshire District Council earlier this month.
Planners say they took on board the children’s suggestions to design the play park.
It is to be built just south of the school in the Great Western Park Estate development of 3,300 homes.
The plans include two play areas – one for children up to six years old, and one for six to 14-year-olds.
Taylor Wimpey spokesman Andy Cattermole said: “We held a workshop for pupils from Stephen Freeman Community Primary School to provide us with their ideas and we were very impressed with their suggestions which have influenced the design.”
The Great Western development got outline planning permission in 2008 and will take about 15 years to finish.
