A MAYPOLE dressed with ribbons of calligraphy art is the centrepiece of a special exhibition to celebrate the 30th year of the Oxford Scribes.
The piece, on display at the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock, was made by 50 members of the group founded in 1984.
Chairman Cynthia Harper said the exhibition was in part funded by donations left to the group by former founder Isabelle Spencer and former president Pat Russell.
The 55-year-old said: “We wanted to do something special that could involve lots of people in the group of different abilities. We did a maypole to fit into the current month and because of Oxfordshire Artweeks taking place.
“I am really pleased with it. It is eye-catching and has been bringing visitors in.”
The exhibition, which features a range of works by members of the group, is open until June 1.
Visitors can go to see it Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 10am to 5pm.
There will also be calligraphy demonstrations on Tuesday, May 14 and Saturday, May 17.
