MORE than 70 people attended afternoon tea in Bampton Village Hall.

The event was organised so care home residents could mix with the community.

A total of 22 residents from Bampton’s Rosebank Care Home enjoyed hot drinks and homemade cake with carers and villagers, raising £214 for Bampton Bush Club lunch group.

The care home’s lifestyle support co-ordinator Mandie Acock said: “Everyone had a really good time.

“The residents enjoyed conversations with everyday members of the community. It helps to integrate them into what’s going on in Bampton.”

Ms Acock organises the twice-yearly event, and last month launched community coffee mornings at the home.

She also takes residents on day trips to wildlife parks, river cruises and pantomines.

One group watched Downton Abbey being filmed in the village two weeks ago.

Ms Acock said: “We have residents’ meetings where everyone says what they want to do.

“We don’t want them to just sit at home all day, we like to get them out and about.”
