Old Marston parish councillor Roy Jones who was due to stand at next month’s elections has died, aged 80.
Mr Jones, a bellringer at St Nicholas’ Church for 70 years, died on Monday.
Vice-chairman Duncan Hatfield said: “I’m saddened and very surprised. Roy was very much part of the community and part of St Nicholas’ Church. Despite his age, he was always very active.
“He was also part of the Mortimer Hall committee and he often represented the parish council at different meetings.”
The upcoming elections for the parish council have now been postponed.
