There are huge delays on roads around Oxford after a four-vehicle crash on the A34.

One lane was closed following the accident at about 2.10pm on A34 Western By Pass Road northbound just before the Peartree exit.

Thames Valley Police roads unit said it had reopened the lane at about 4.30pm.

But it is still affecting several roads around Oxford.

The A34 northbound is queueing back to Abingdon while it is also backing up along the A4144 and the A4165 and there are queues on the A40 Northern bypass approaching the A34.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the crash involved three cars and a lorry.

She said: “We were called at 2.10pm to an accident on the A34 just before the Peartree exit.

“The road is still blocked because they need to recover one of the cars.”
