A scientist specialising in industrial lubricants has won the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Inspiration and Industry Award.

Prof Peter Dowding of Infineum UK was presented with the award for his contribution to “the outreach, promotion or teaching of the chemical sciences”.

Prof Dowding is researching the development of industrial lubricants by studying substances called colloids, which can be added to improve lubricant performance.

Working at Infineum’s Milton Hill Business and Technology Centre base, near Didcot, he has supervised 22 undergraduates.
