A Jewish celebration

First published in News

Klezmer music, Israeli food and Jewish crafts will take over Broad Street on Sunday at the city’s first Jewish Celebration Fair.

The event, from noon to 4pm, will celebrate the ancient Jewish holiday of Lag Baomer, and Oxford Chabbad Society says it is the first of its kind in the city.

Klezmer band ‘She’Koyokh’ and harpist Fien Barnett-Neefs will perform.

The Oxford Jewish Heritage Exhibition, sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund, will also be on show, telling the history of the Jews of Oxford from medieval times.

Might this not offend other ethnic and religious groups in 'politically correct' Oxford, where its City Council has previously questioned the viability of celebrating Christmas - despite being a Christian Country, ruled by a monarch who is also the Head of the Church of England? If only more countries around the world were as tolerant as the British - especially in the Middle East and Africa, where where religious intolerance is enforced by law.
