A MEMBER of the team working on plans to set a new World Land Speed Record will visit Sibford School next week.

Tony Parraman, of the Bloodhound SCC Engineering Team, will be speaking about the project and the challenges of creating a car capable of reaching speeds of more than 1,000 miles per hour.

John Charlesworth, a science teacher at Sibford School, said: “This project is exceptional because, unlike so many other development projects, the team is willing to share technical information and expertise.’’

Other objectives are to inspire a new generation of engineers and to create a national surge in the popularity of Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

Mr Charlesworth will be speaking at the school on Thursdayfrom 4.30pm and the free event is open to the public.
