THEY spend their days helping others but last week were given a chance to relax and be pampered.

Carers in West Oxfordshire had their nails done by students at the Oxford International College of Beauty in High Street, Witney.

It was put together by Carers Oxfordshire outreach worker for West Oxfordshire Anney Harris, who wanted to do something for carers. It also gave the students a chance to practise their skills ahead of exams.

Ms Harris said: “It was a really good event. Being a family carer is such a stressful role and they have so little time for themselves.

“The college kindly agreed to help us out and it gave the students a chance to practise before they take their exams.

“Everyone was really relaxed by the end and they could forget about everything for an hour or so.”

Carers Week will run from June 9-15.
