BROKEN pottery and recycled materials helped create mosaics to celebrate an 80th birthday.

Residents of Florence Park, Oxford, attended sessions with artist Clare Goodall over a six-week period to make the displays.

They were unveiled at Florence Park Children’s Centre in Rymers Lane on Wednesday.

The group designed birds, to show the variety found in the park, but also as a tool for storytelling.

Ms Goodall said: “I think the women who attended found it very useful and I think they did learn a lot from the experience.

“It was a great opportunity for them to learn new skills and also to meet other people in the area.”

The display is to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Florence Park estate being built.

Children’s centre manager Norma Thompson said: “We wanted to do something to enhance the look and feel of the park and the project provided a great opportunity for different local families to work together.

“We’re delighted with the results and hope visitors enjoy the artwork.”
