FAMILIES enjoyed seeing some iconic diesel locomotives at a weekend of fun at Didcot Railway Centre.
Thousands visited Diesel Gala at the centre, next to Didcot Parkway railway station.
Trains on display included the DBS Didcot Shunter, a Class 37 – D6700 courtesy of the National Railway Museum, and a Class 41 – 41001 – the NRM’s Prototype HST Powercar.
The Hogg family travelled from Basildon for the first time to see the Deltic, No 55002.
‘The King’s own Yorkshire Light Infantry’ was lent to the centre by the National Railway Museum in York.
Mum Clare, who took sons Joshua, eight, Jake, six and Nathan, four, said: “It is the first time we have been here and it was such a lovely day.”
Joshua said: “I liked playing on the Imagination Station where we could build bridges and press the buttons.”
