DIOGO Ross-Russell would rather spend his evening on a skateboard than the sofa.

The 13-year-old was taking part in a free skateboarding session hosted by Oxford Youth Ambition, an Oxford City Council programe to get children involved in sports.

Sessions in skateboarding, street hockey and table tennis are held for youngsters aged up to 21 each Friday at Cutteslowe Community Centre, Wren Road, from 7.30pm. All equip-ment is provided.

The Cutteslowe youngster said: “I’ve been skating for a year after a friend got me on a board.

“There was a taster session for the club and then I started going every week. The skate club is really good, they help us out with our tricks and moves. That’s why I like going.”
