A MAN accused of perverting the course of justice following sex assault allegations has denied threatening a pregnant teenager.

The complainant alleges she was sexually assaulted after she woke up in a house in Cowley Road, Oxford, on December 17, 2011.

Bilal Ahmed, 27, from Maidenhead, denies the charge and is on trial at Oxford Crown Court.

His cousin Zeeshan Ahmed, of Palmer Road, Wood Farm, Oxford, is alleged to have told the girl she would be “shot” if she didn’t stop speaking to the police.

Yesterday he gave evidence for the first time in the two-week trial and told the jury he had only spoken to her to try to find out what had happened.

Asked by defence barrister Jeannie Mackie how he felt when he heard the allegations made against his cousin he said: “I was shocked, I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know what to believe.”

He said he had contacted the complainant on Facebook and added: “I felt sorry for her. I couldn’t believe these allegations had happened and I wanted to show my support.”

Asked why he had visited her he said: “I wanted to try and piece everything together.”

Miss Mackie said the girl alleges he threatened her in a Blackberry Messenger message.

She asked him: “Did you do that?”

He answered: “No.”

The trial continues.
