THESE blooming wonderful water lilies are a surefire sign that British summer time is here. The nymphaea x daubenyana lilies have been turning into a burst of colour over the last month at Oxford’s Botanic Garden.

Lucinda Lachelin, a botanical horticulturalist at the Rose Lane attraction, said: “They are very pretty flowers. They need a heated tank to grow, they are in a tank that has been here since the 1850s.”
