TWO restaurants were targeted by would-be thieves in separate incidents.

Burglars drove their vehicle through a field to reach the back of a restaurant they wanted to steal from on Friday.

The Windmill Restaurant and Carvery near Asthall on the A40 was broken into at about 2.20am after the offenders smashed its rear windows and conducted “an untidy search” police said.

Nothing was stolen, but they then exited the premises by forcing open a different door.

In a another incident, police are looking for a man who attempted to burgle a Burford restaurant on Sunday.

Described as about 5ft 3in and has short dark hair, he tried to force his way into Little Chef, in Cheltenham Road, through the front windows.

He was not successful, but was seen in the area between 10.30pm on Sunday and 2pm on Monday.

Police said he was seen wearing a grey zipped-up top.

It is not know if police are linking to the two incidents.

Those with information should call the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
