Harrison Ford ambulance ‘following protocol’
6:30am Tuesday 17th June 2014 in News
An ambulance service said it was “following protocol” when Hollywood actor Harrison Ford was airlifted to hospital with an ankle injury.
The Star Wars actor was transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital last Thursday, after his foot was hit by a hydraulic door while filming the latest movie in the science fiction franchise at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
Air ambulances are normally called out for serious injuries, but Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance said it was requested by the ambulance service.
A spokeswoman said last night: “999 calls come in through the regular ambulance service. If we are required we have to go out.”
A South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were duty bound to follow protocol.”
