A CENTRE supporting small and start-up businesses is expanding again just 18 months after opening.

The Witney Business and Innovation Centre will open a further 12 offices next month covering 2,000 sq ft and is set to boost the number of people working there beyond 100.

Bosses believe the site on the Windrush Industrial Park, which is owned by Blenheim Palace, is meeting major demand for office space from growing businesses in West Oxfordshire.

One company has already moved in before the new offices are officially released next month.

Roger File, property director at Blenheim Palace, said: “Witney Business and Innovation Centre is clearly filling a void in West Oxfordshire for businesses seeking professional office space without the red tape and expense of a traditional office lease.

“The refurbishment of additional space will enable Oxford Innovation to continue its fantastic support in helping local businesses to progress.”

A total of 25 businesses are now based the centre, managed by Oxford Innovation, with that number increasing fivefold since it opened in December 2012. They include business support organisation Biolauncher, HIT Training, computer maintenance company Data Centre Response and latest addition, care provider Abbey Care Services.

Businesses have been attracted by hi-tech facilities including fast broadband as well as flexible lease arrangements and the ability to share office space.

The latest refurbishment of the buildings once owned by Smiths Industries, consists of nearly 2,000 sq ft with offices available from 110 sq ft to 270 sq ft.

Centre manager Stephanie Henwood said: “We’re delighted the third phase of our planned refurbishment works is under way which will enable us to help more businesses who are looking for an established base in West Oxfordshire. Nearly half of the businesses to take advantage of our new office space will also benefit from stunning views across the Windrush Valley.”
