Prof is awarded for decades of influential study

A PROFESSOR has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award after dedicating more than three decades to economic research at the Univeristy of Oxford.
Economics professor Sir David Hendry, 70, was recognised for his contribution to the field with the Celebrating Impact Lifetime Achievement Award from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
Sir David moved to Oxford in 1982 after joining the university and his work has influenced national and international bodies including HM Treasury, Ofcom and the International Monetary Fund.
He was also recognised for his commitment to training.
ESCR chief executive Prof Paul Boyle said: “This is our second annual Celebrating Impact Prize and we are delighted to celebrate those who have derived particularly significant economic and societal impact from their work.
“We are pleased to honour the achievements of Sir David Hendry with a lifetime award which acknowledges his sustained contribution.”
Sir David is director of the Programme for Economic Modelling at Oxford Martin School’s Institute for New Economic Thinking.
Oxford University professors Dr Stuart Basten and Dr Sabina Alkire were also recognised for their work.
