An investigation has been launched after a parachutist from a display team based at RAF Brize Norton injured an elderly spectator at an air show in Weston Supermare in Somerset  on Sunday. The 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital in Bristol with a suspected fractured pelvis after the parachutist from the RAF Falcons Display Flight team missed the drop zone.

Yesterday, a spokesman for the RAF said: “We wish those involved in the incident a very speedy recovery.

“However, due to the fact there will be an investigation, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.”
