THIS is enough to put you off beans on toast for life.
Sherry Knight and Kay Webb spent five hours yesterday sat in a bathtub full of baked beans at the Cherwell School, in Marston Ferry Road, to raise money for Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary, in Stadhampton.
Mrs Knight, deputy headteacher of Year 10 at the school, said: “It was disgusting, I hate baked beans anyway. By the end we both felt really sick.”
The 45-year-old, from Middle Barton, said: “Everything we were wearing just stank, we had to throw it away.”
The duo have raised more than £400 through sponsorship from their slimy bath.
Mrs Webb, an administrator at the Farmington Institute, said: “I volunteer at the sanctuary and they are really in dire straits.
“They’ve had to get rid of a load of dogs and only have enough money to carry on until next year.
“Anything we can do to raise awareness and money is really important.”
The 44-year-old, from Witney, added: “I used to love baked beans, but now even if I smelled someone cooking them I wouldn’t eat them.
“I still have a few tins at home so I’ll have to get rid of them.”
