A man lost a tooth and suffered facial injuries after being attacked by four men near Oxford Ice Rink early this morning .

The 20-year-old was approached from behind while walking along Oxpens Road just before 4.15am.

The attackers, who are all thought to be in their early 20s, are described as three white men and an Asian man, police said.

The group did not steal anything from the victim but fled in the direction of Abingdon Road.

Det Sgt Simon Hannam, of Thames Valley Police, said: “This was a nasty attack and one which appears to have no motive.”

Those with information should call Thames Valley Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
